Swiss Maid

I have been working like a dog again and as such, I forgot that the maid was coming today. Not that I could have done much even if I remembered. I had to be at work for an 8 AM first round budget challenge and the day didn't get much better from there (picture grown men and women in an angry melee that would be outright amusing if I wasn't responsible for sorting it out). So back to the maid. I was told when I moved in that I needed to clean before the maid came and usually I do. I can only imagine the look of horror on her face when she saw my apartment today without pre-cleaning for the real cleaning.

It was messy by my standards but must have been like entering a crack house to a Swiss woman. There were dishes in the sink and clothes all over the bed from my morning struggle to find the right outfit for the budget grilling. My Christmas cactus had left some flowers on the floor. My coffee table was at 24 degree angle from my couch. Helter skelter.

Now I have to figure out where she put everything. My advent calendar is my apartment and my maid has left me all the surprises. I looked into a drawer I had never used before in the kitchen and found all my pasta. One time I opened my bathroom mirror and all my make-up was lined up by color and type. A small potted plant was stuck into a tea cup. She likes to overwater them.

Is she more crazy for what she does or am I more crazy to work around her craziness?

Maybe I should hire these guys!

I have great sympathy with you. My Polish cleaning lady doesn't speak much German but her eyes speak volumes if the apartment isn't precleaned. It is not so bad here in northern Germany, but I lived in Constance and Kreuzlingen so I know very well what you are talking about.

If you'd hire those guys, I'm not sure how you'd invite them to Basel. ;-) I'd say lucky you've got one.. I've got myself and I'm a baaad cleaner!
