National meteorological offices in much of Western Europe, including France, Germany, Spain, Belgium and The Netherlands, have predicted record high temperatures, prompting officials to advise heat precautions July 19 and 20.
The extreme heat can cause problems in particular for people using mass transit. The lack of air conditioning and cramped vehicles during rush hour may lead to some passengers being hospitalized for dehydration. Forecasters predict severe conditions may continue in the coming days as record temperatures are reported across much of Western Europe.
High temperatures could lead to electrical outages.
Contact ambulance services in the event of a medical emergency. Remain indoors and in air conditioning when possible. If outdoors, limit activity during the hottest times of day (1000-1500). Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing to minimize the heat's effect.
If traveling by subway, carry bottled water. If possible, do not board the subway if already feeling unwell.

I get those notices too -- my favorites are the ones that say the skinheads are coming and I should seek refuge in nice hotels.
And, oh yeah, it's hot.
Now you know why Mrs. TBF asks me to pick her up at work during hot weather instead of her taking the tram. Although, I think it's due more to the B.O. than the heat!
