Halloween In Mexico

The moon is full tonight and Mexico is celebrating the day of the dead. A parade will take place tonight where friends and family head to the cemetary to leave little gifts for the deceased, gifts made of sugar, as it is expected that tonight the souls come down for a feast. While this is loosely tied to the Catholic All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on November 1 and 2 respectively, the celebration can actually be traced back thousands of years to an Aztec tradition.

Thank you for this. Such lovely photos and informative explanation of the Day of the Dead. I wasn't aware that it was celebrated so close to Halloween...
