Wishing all a Happy 4th of July, perfect burgers and cherry pie! What I wouldn't give for some hot dogs on the grill, baked beans, silver queen corn and a few slices of watermelon!
No one really knows or understands what it means to be an American. Just like we will never know what it means to be a German.
Something about silver queen corn soaked in sugar water and cooked on the grilled in its husk that out does spargle on a good day. The smell of a all beef frank cooking under the Kingsford. A large hamberger cooked well well done down to half the size of when it started.
Those things are avaiable in Basel but they are not American. Just like sitting at a Bosox game and watching the practice 2 hours before it starts... You will never find that anywhere but here in the US....
